Jesus Fulfilled, Completed the Sabbath when the Pharisee's Broke the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The Sinless Lamb became sin, even a curse being hung on a tree. A Bloody Sabbath. The Jewish Calendar does not name the days of the week, they are numbered. Saturday has been recognized as the Sabbath but, the crucifixion and the resurrection could have been on a number of different Gregorian days depending on when Jesus was born and when they started mapping the calendar. Regardless of the actual day, The Only Begotten Son of God Jesus, was crucified "During" the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Mark 14:12 And on the "first day" of unleavened bread, when they were to sacrifice the Passover lamb, His disciples say to Him, "Where do You desire that, having gone, we should prepare that You may "eat" the Passover?" Berean Literal Bible Sunset is the Beginning of the Day until the next Sunset. Judaism 101 Jesus died before Sunset. Nisan 14 is the Passover. The Last Supper was that evening and Jesus was arrested the next morning and crucified at noon and died at three (approximately). He was taken down before sunset because He died on Preparation Day. John 19:31 It was the day of Preparation, and the next day was a High Sabbath. In order that the bodies would not remain on the cross during the Sabbath, the Jews asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies removed. Why a High Sabbath? Because the weekly Preparation Day was on the week of the Passover. The First Day of Unleavened Bread is Passover which, is considered a Sabbath and the Seventh Day is the Sabbath. A Double or High Sabbath. Jesus answered, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.” John 2:19 Early on the first day of the week, (They are not named, they are numbered) while it was "still dark", Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. John 20:1 "Still Dark". Jesus was raised from the dead on Monday morning which would be at Sunset or was it Tuesday before Sunrise? Because, we need three days and three nights. Since the weekly Sabbath is Saturday, Friday is Preparation Day: Friday Sunset to Saturday Sunset is one day and night. Saturday Sunset to Sunday Sunset is two days and nights. Sunday Sunset to Monday Sunset is three days and nights. Monday Sunset is the First Day of the Week but this does "Not" mean that we obey a Sabbath Monday as the Seventh Day of Rest. Jesus is our Rest. If your life is set up to worship on Saturday then great, just don't condemn those who worship on a different day. Everyday is Rest because The Son of Man is Lord, even of the Sabbath. We are a temple for the Holy Spirit now. God's plan: They killed a lamb and ate it with haste and painted the doorway with it's blood. The LORD came to the homes and if He saw the blood He would Passover that home and send the destroyer angel to the homes that did not know of God's plan because they rejected The God of Israel. Exodus 12:23 (embellished) For seven days you are to eat unleavened bread, and on the "seventh" day there shall be a "feast" (a Celebration) to the LORD. "Unleavened" bread shall be eaten "during" those (7) "Seven" (7) days. Nothing leavened may be found among you, nor shall yeast be found anywhere within your borders. And on that day you are to explain to your son, ‘This is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.’ Exodus 13:6-8
The Seventh Day was a Feast, a Celebration? It was a set up. This custom was started before God gave Moses the Ten Commandments. The Israelite's were still in Egypt. They did not leave Egypt until the Seventh Day, after the First Born were sacrificed. Jesus became our sacrificial Lamb and they crucified Him "during" the Feast of Unleavened Bread! They were not supposed to have any leaven that represented sin and Jesus took upon Himself All of our Sin and became a Curse by dying on a tree during the seven days of "unleavened" bread. Did God care about their High Sabbath Celebration After That!?! And the Jews broke the Law again. About that time, King Herod reached out to harm some who belonged to the church. He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. Seeing that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Acts 12:1-3 Seven days to kill and arrest Peter, and it pleased the Jews. The First Sabbath God made the heavens and the earth and on the Sixth Day, He made Man. Jesus was the Son of Man and He was crucified on the Sixth Day so, when God "rested" He probably cried/wept/wailed, because He knew what would happen on that 7th day. They Celebrated. He did "not stop" on the 7th day, He rested. Then, He made a Garden (A burial ground, a tomb that would be sealed) in the East of Eden on the First Day of the Week. Adam and Eve sinned in the perfect Garden and God sacrificed an animal to cover their nakedness with it's skin. A sacrifice on the day of completion. The eighth day/era. And God Said... Chapter: "Before the Garden" The Sabbath was fulfilled when they crucified Jesus during the Feast of Unleavened Bread on the week of Passover and God raised His Son from the dead and Jesus is seated next to His Father in Heaven. Revelation 3:21 But I tell you that something Greater Than The Temple Is Here. If only you had known the meaning of "I desire mercy, not sacrifice," you would not have condemned the innocent. For the 'Son of Man' is Lord of the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:6-8 Today, Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath and He is Inside the Born Again Believer making "Everyday" a Sabbath because, He is our Rest. Everyday we are to be Holy for He is Holy. But, God knows that we are mere mortals, even though we are gods. (small g.) Psalm 82:6,7 Our spirit is willing but our flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41 It is difficult to obey a command, as the Apostles demonstrated. Jesus "commanded" them Not to Fall Asleep. Sleep was their "forbidden fruit" that produced the result of disobedience. Yet not all is lost. By the death and resurrection of God's Only Begotten Son we are covered with Grace. Therefore, being holy is our goal yet, don't beat yourself up when you fail. Our steps are ordered by the LORD and He delights in our way, though (we) fall (we) will not be cast down because Yehovah will hold us up with His Hand. (Jesus is God's Right Hand Man/God) Psalm 37:23,24 3'nme All the Law and The Prophets hang on these Two Commandments. Love God and Love your neighbor. (Not just your brother) P.S. Love your enemy. What? Did Jesus make an Amendment to a Commandment? God makes the rules. Period. Seven Day Sabbath or You Must Be Born Again
